the hands-on experimental and exploratory study basic robotic structure built using Lego Mindstorms/Tetrix/VEX Educational Robotics components and/or other open source components, divided into many specialized fields that cover their cyber-physical interactive system, sub systems including power, Touch, Light, Color, Rotational, and ultrosonic sensors, control using a basic micro-controller, and basic application programming using LabView or RobotC or EasyC programming software. Junior High students work on grade and skill appropriate projects.

Objectives: Students will learn and master sensors (Ultrasonic, Touch, Sound, Light/Color, and Infrared) needed and used to build intermediate level projects. Students choose programming oriented robotic projects. They will build autonomous robots with transport and simple robotic arm mechanisms and functionality and understaning 3 degrees of mechanical freedom. Emphasis on problem-solving, self-confidence, critical thinking, habits of mind, team collaboration, Learning how to learn, etc.

Course Duration: 12 weeks/3 months

Schedule:

Weekdays (Mon - Fri):

  • Period I: 10 AM to 11.40 AM (K - 12th grade - Reserved for Home School and Independent Study Students)
    Period II: 3.00 PM to 4.40 PM (K - 7th grade)
    Period III: 4.40 PM to 6.20 PM (K - 7th grade)
    Period IV: 6.20 PM to 8.00 PM (8th - 12th grade)

Saturdays:

  • Period I: 9:00 AM to 10:40 AM
  • Period II: 11:00 AM to 12:40 PM
  • Period III: 1:00 PM to 2:40 PM

Additional Notes: Year-Round Open Enrollment. Choose 1 period per week. Class Participation is Once a week for 100 minutes. 3 month course fee: $480. Lab fee $40 applies. One mentor for every 6 students. 2 make-up classes allowed. Must complete course within a 14-week period from the first day of the class. No-prorating for missed classes. After-School Class Registration: 

STEP 1: Download & Complete the Student Registration Form & Liability Waiver and Talent Release Form (PDF).

STEP 2: eMail admin@mathobotix.com or call 949-857-1419 to confirm class schedule.

STEP 3: Visit the lab and Pay Class Fee, turn in the completed forms, at least 1 week before class start date.

STEP 4: Begin attending Class.
